When you or a family member are undergoing a medical procedure or need treatment at a hospital, it can be overwhelming to know where to start—and how to find the best care. Navigating who you need to call, where you need to go and when everything needs to happen is daunting, to say the least, but you’re not alone in this. Motherly’s 2022 State of Motherhood survey showed that 70% of primary-income earning moms are still responsible for scheduling their family’s doctor appointments.

Between getting referrals, reading reviews and asking around for recommendations, not to mention wading through insurance information, decision fatigue can set in quickly. And if you’re the default parent, you might feel this deeply. To reduce your mental load when it comes to choosing a hospital, the Women’s Choice Award has identified the nation’s best hospitals and treatment centers based on clinical performance, patient satisfaction and appropriate accreditations.

“Being treated with the proper level of care impacts your health, well-being and healing, so our goal is to identify those hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care to their patients, with a special focus on the female experience,” the organization states.

Here’s how they’re helping to simplify your choice of hospitals so that you and your family can get back on the road to health.

How the 2023 Women’s Choice Awards are determined

After surveying thousands of women to determine which measures are most important to them, plus using the most recent publicly available information from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as accreditation information from appropriate sources, the organization combines both clinical performance and patient experience to determine who makes the final cut.
