In a heart-wrenching post on her Instagram Stories, “Selling Sunset” star Maya Vander revealed that she suffered a miscarriage just 10 weeks after her son’s stillbirth.

Vander shared the news of her son’s stillbirth with her followers on December 10, 2021. In the Instagram post she shared an image of a memory box filled with newborn baby clothes—with a heartbreaking memento of her baby’s footprint on them.

On June 21, she posted a picture of her son along with the tragic message about her miscarriage.

The “Selling Sunset” star gives a sweet shout out to her husband and their two children, for bringing “joy and happiness” into her life.

She added, “Hug and love the people you care about. Don’t take things for granted!”

Since sharing news of her son’s stillbirth back in December, Vander has posted multiple times about how the loss has affected her family and how she is focused on healing. She has been open and honest about her grief journey with her followers.

“Trying to get back to reality, life and maintain normalcy is not easy after a loss. The why?? Is always there…the breakdown moments are always there. I promised I’ll share a list of resources that are very helpful to me. This list is for all the women out there who are / went through what I am dealing with plus people who are dealing with grief.”

Since Vander shared news of her pregnancies on the show, she has also discussed her pregnancy losses on there as well. On the “Selling Sunset” reunion episode, which aired in May, she says she was hoping to get pregnant again as a way to heal after her loss.

“I have my moments, that’s part of grief, and just take this opportunity to raise voice for stillbirth and pregnancy loss,” she said. “I think part of healing is getting pregnant again. I hope I will. We’ll see.”

Season 5 was just released in April. And although it looks like Maya’s goodbye lunch means she won’t be a season regular anymore, there is talk about a season 6 forthcoming.

According to the Mayo Clinic, about 10 to 20 pregnancies end in miscarriage. And that’s just the number of known pregnancies. Since so many can occur during early pregnancy—when you might not even know you’re pregnant—they predict the actual number may be much higher.

Since this loss is typically an invisible one—only those you share your pregnancy news with might also be the ones you tell—it can be extremely difficult to process on your own. But it’s thanks to celebrities like Maya Vander, Britney Spears and countless other brave souls who share their grief online and make it possible for this once-taboo subject to be discussed more openly.

And it allows for us all to process our own grief, whether past or present. Because we all know that grief has no time stamp.

Our hearts are with Maya Vander and her entire family.
