Traditionally, baby clothes have short lifespans. Within a few months of growing, little ones are ready to move onto the next size—and send that outgrown garment into storage or a landfill.
Now, there is a better way: H&M just rolled out a seriously adorable collection of organic, biodegradable baby clothes that are designed to fit babies through multiple growth spurts. Released online on June 16, the new Cradle to Cradle Certified® collection includes precious tops, pants, caps and blankets that can be mixed and matched.
When we learned about the environmentally friendly collection, the first thing that really made an impression is how truly sustainable the pieces are. Each garment is made using renewable energy, preserves clean water and soil, and can be added to the compost pile once it’s ready to be retired.
Then we were really sold when we saw the actual collection. With a warm color palette of green, yellow and tangerine, the designs are inspired by fruits and veggies. The collection is also perfectly gender-neutral, which makes each piece great for passing down to siblings or friends. Even that practice is sustainable: The more use we can get out of one piece of clothing, the less stress we put on the environment.
