When you’re at an airport on any given day, you expect delays or detours—they’re not exactly out of the ordinary. But something that isn’t exactly par for the course at an airport? Giving birth. This is what happened to a pregnant mama-to-be at the Miami International Airport earlier this week.

The mother was initially scheduled to hop on a connecting flight to Honduras, but there was…a delay, you could say. She gave birth to a baby girl right inside the restroom near her gate at 10:30 a.m, according to airport spokesperson Greg Chin.

“We were honored to help the mom have a safe delivery at MIA and we are proud to hear that the baby has been named Mia because of her successful ‘arrival’ at our airport,” Chin said.

The best part of the story is, of course, that mother and baby are healthy and well. The second best part? The baby’s name. In honor of the airport where she took her first breaths, mama named her little girl “Mia.”

How PERFECT is that?!

Baby Mia’s arrival even got a shout-out from Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

“Welcome to the world, baby MIA!” Levine Cava posted on Twitter. “Grateful that mom and her new baby are doing well — and kudos to the amazing @iflyMIA terminal team, @MiamiDadePD, and @MiamiDadeFire for this special arrival.”

Teamwork makes the dream work! And what a dream that beautiful little baby is, too. It surely wasn’t the birth plan this mom had in mind, but you won’t often hear anyone complaining about an early arrival at the airport.
